PostSubject: Guide and tips playing at Starhill - Walking course.   Tue Oct 16, 2012 12:01 pm

Hi all RDGians,

As this is my first time ever playing there, I sincerely need all the sifu's advice here,
especially those who has played at the abovementioned course.

What do I need to prepare other than preparing myself to walk the whole 18 holes?

Thanks in advance cheers

Ha ha ha,
I never try the walking course, only try buggy.
But Royal Johor tried before, damn tired after the game......

Bintang is quite a tough course but it is a really nice course. There will be caddies who will ride on turfmate and most of the caddies there are knowledgeable in terms of the course layout, so best is to seek their advice.

Typically per round is around 4.5-5 hours. We normally tip RM20 per pax. It also depends on how good the caddy is.

i find it enjoyable playing walking course as compare to using buggy ... because i have too much bad shots and walking them off is beneficial for me ...

Time wise i feel that it is about the same as using buggy, can finish a round in about 4-4.5 hours.

Caddy is important, they help you locate the ball, bring your golf club, etc. Usually is 1 caddy 1 turfmate to 4 golfers. If not on a busy day i think 1 caddy 1 turfmate to 2 golfers.

Yes, bring lots of water, umbrella and raincoat (in case it rain)

Starhill is a very mature course. If your ball went into the trees, its better to take a stroke to punch out to fairway, don't try to chiong ... i paid my price ... Sad

Can't really compare with RJCC because the caddie there carries your tour staff bag and walks 18-holes. In Starhill, it is shared and usually it is 1 caddie to 4 golfers. Thus, total will be RM80 which I think it is reasonable. Of course we can tip up to RM100 for 4 pax if the caddie is good but we have encountered beginner caddie as well. Vomit blood all the way. He will give you putter when you go into greenside bunker. lol!
